Beth Anne Stouffer, 92, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2019, at her home.

Born Friday, December 10, 1926, in Price, UT, she was the daughter of the late Lycurgus O’Neil and the late Rozelda (Anderton) O’Neil.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Stouffer Sr.

Beth graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Tacoma, WA.

She was employed with the Washington County Board of Education as an educational assistant at Winter Street and Woodland Way elementary schools and Williamsport High School.

Beth was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, where she started the Food Bank in the 1970’s and continued to oversee its operation for more than 30 years. She was the first woman to serve on the church council. She helped start the Sunshine Class at St. Mark’s for people with special needs.

In recent years, she could also be found volunteering at Holly Place.

She is survived by her two daughters, Linda Valle of Baltimore, MD and Elizabeth “Libby” Fitz of Hagerstown; son, Robert Lee Stouffer Jr. and wife, Linda, of Missoula, MT; and two grandchildren, Dawn Jackson and husband, Stuart, of Missoula, and Noah Stouffer of Hagerstown.

She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Forrest Stouffer; sisters, Olga Ootkin, Helen Lake and Donna Kebabjian; and brothers, Rex O’Neil, Lloyd O’Neil, Blake O’Neil and Donald O’Neil.

Memorial services will be held Monday, October 14, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, with the Rev. G. Stanley Steele officiating.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, October 14, 2019, from 10 to 11 a.m.

Private interment will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church Food Bank, 601 Washington Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21740; Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742; or Holly Place, 268 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
