Shawn Allen Morgan
Shawn Allen Morgan faced his Duchenne muscular dystrophy with courage for 21 years. His body created limitations, but his humor was boundless. He had an active mind, keen skills of observation, and an ability to retain information that made him a winner in any memory game. From an early age, Shawn loved cars, racing, baseball, and the Florida Gators. In his own quiet way, he made friends with almost everyone he met. He was able to connect with one of his heroes—Dale Earnhardt Jr. when his mother arranged a Make-a-Wish trip for him at age 11. Though his sister is the family’s musical star, Shawn also entertained with song. One notable example was his flawless rendition of the theme from “Monk” sung from his hospital bed with all the feeling of a true germaphobe.

Predeceased by his loving Faux Pas, Phil Rond, Shawn was loved by an extended family that included his mother and constant caregiver Shannon Helle and her partner Matthew Goldtrap, his siblings Summer, Jacob, Hallie, and Clayton, his uncle Jonathan, grandparents Carol Gormley and Duane Helle, stepmother Ruth Findley, step-uncle/aunt Matthew Rond and Jenny Park, as well as many nurses and other professionals who came to give care and stayed to be friends. Our sadness is tempered by the knowledge that his spirit is freed, and his pain is ended now that he rests in the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Chris
