Janet Coffey Morgan, age 78 of Marion, passed away on the evening of Tuesday, October 08, 2019 at Carolinas Healthcare System Blueridge in Morganton. The daughter of the late Frenis Dewey and Mae Teague Coffey, she was born in Caldwell County North Carolina on June 26, 1941.

Janet, along with being a member of the First Baptist Church of Marion, had a special love for music. She was the lead soprano singer for the Lenoir Rhyne Acapella Choir for four years.

In addition to teaching music at public schools, Janet also taught private pupils both children, and adults. She enjoyed working in her flowers and shrubs as well as cooking and traveling.

Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of fifty-five years, Bill Morgan; two children, Rachel Carpenter (Jeff) of Lawndale, North Carolina, and Andy Morgan of Marion North Carolina; and one brother, Steve Coffey (Suzanne) of Knoxville, Tennessee. As well as two grandchildren, Mason Carpenter, and SarahGrace Carpenter; several nieces and nephews, her beloved church family, and many special close friends.

A Celebration of life service to honor Janet will be held on Sunday, October 13, 2019 at the First Baptist Church of Marion, at 4:00 P.M., with Dr. Scott Hagaman officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:30 P.M. until 4:00 P.M., prior to the service at the church.
