Mr. Johnny T. Alexander, 79, of Tifton, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, October 8, 2019, at his residence, one day before his 80th birthday.

Funeral services was held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday October 11, 2019 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Reverend Aaron Frasier and Rev. Larry Layfield officiating. Burial was in Tift Memorial Gardens.

He was born on October 9, 1939 in Enigma, Georgia to the late John Loyd and Eva Flanders Alexander. Mr. Alexander was also preceded in death by two sisters, Lillian Alexander Smith and Evelyn Alexander Haskins and one grandson, Jeffery Mark Alexander, Jr.

Mr. Alexander loved the Lord and he and his wife were very active in their church, Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Chula where he served as a Church Deacon. Most of his life was spent working in road construction. He worked many years with McAllister Contracting and retired from Tift County Road Department with 21 years of service. During those years he helped build many of the roads in Tift County. He also helped build many golf courses in the surrounding states. He enjoyed working in the yard, and working with his hands. He was quite the handyman. Mr. Alexander loved his family. He spent many hours playing with and caring for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed spending hours outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities. He enjoyed his hunting adventures with his lifelong friends, the Lupo’s.

Survivors of Mr. Alexander include one daughter and two sons, Alan and Karen Alexander of Blairsville; Kirby and Jane Alexander Jones of Chula and Mark and Valarie Alexander of Evans. GA. His surviving grandchildren are Brock Alexander (Chelsea) of Indiantown, FL; Kaylyn Jesifers (Andrew) of Manchester; Kyndal Alexander of Columbus; Kody Jones of Savannah; Kassi Rhodes of Tifton; JaneAnn Owens (Kevin) of Tifton; Berry Claire Alexander of Evans; Lilly Alexander of Evans and Sibley Alexander of Evans. Mr. Alexander was also blessed with seven great grandchildren who were the joy of his life. They are Andon Rhodes, Cason Rhodes and Asher Owens all of Tifton; John Cohen Alexander and Eden Alexander both of Indiantown, FL and Aspen Jesifers and Remery Kate Jesifers both of Manchester.
