Michael L. Pirtle, 43, Springfield, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2007, in his home, of an apparent heart attack. He was born on August 24, 1963, in Boonville, Missouri, the son of Tommy Gene. and Shirley A. (Cook) Pirtle. He was preceded in death by his father, his maternal grandparents, Tom and Pauline Pirtle and his paternal grandparents, Houston and Helen Cook. Michael enjoyed life to the fullest. He had a wonderful since of humor, was a man of character and integrity, and was the life of any party he attended. He loved his family, his many friends and his dogs. His favorite pastimes were cooking, gardening and gambling (He passed away on the luckiest day of the century: 07-07-07). He loved anything outdoors and was an avid sports fan. He is survived by the love of his life, Laura Wilbert, Joplin; his mother, Shirley A. Cook, Rogersville; three sisters, Teresa Melton and husband, Mark, Rogersville, Brenda Haroldson and husband, Randy, Aldrich, and Melissa Gibson and husband Jerry, Strafford; three nephews, Zachary Melton, Jared Gibson and Levi Riley; seven nieces, Aysha Melton, Megan, Samantha, Mandy and Katlin Haroldson, and Whitney and Emily Gibson; several aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many lifelong friends to numerous to mention (you know who you are). A celebration of Michael's life will be held Tuesday evening, July 10, 2007, from 6 to 8 p.m. with a remembrance service beginning at 7 p.m. in J.D. Lee and Sons Funeral Home, west of Rogersville. Private burial will be at a later date in Fordland Cemetery following cremation. The family request memorial donations be made to the Southwest Missouri Humane Society, 3161 W.
