Born in Pitcher, NY, on August 28, 1921, Reta was the daughter of the late Edwin and Hazel Loomis Maricle.
A lifelong resident of the area, she was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Cincinnatus. She was a member and past officer of the Order of the Eastern Star, Cincinnatus Chapter. For many years, she supported her family as a successful Avon distributor and was affectionally known as “the Avon Lady.”
She is survived by her children:
Berneta (John) Terry of Union Springs and
Thom (Lori) Johnson of Pharsalia.
She also leaves behind her stepchildren, Lynn Wood of Blodgett Mills and Don Johnson of Florida;
her grandchildren, Hannah, Joel, Joshua, Isaac, and Jacob (Hannah);
a great-grandson, Mason James;
several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by
her first husband, Bernard N. Johnson in 1980;
her second husband, Aubrey Johnson, in 1990;
and siblings, Lawrence Maricle, Lloyd Maricle, Martha Small, Mildred Maricle, Reno Maricle, and Leah Bush.
Funeral services for Reta will be held at the United Presbyterian Church of Cincinnatus on Sunday, October 13, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor George Carruth officiating.
Burial will be in Taylor Rural Cemetery.
The family will be present to receive friends at the church on Sunday from 12:30 p.m. until the start of the service at 2:00 p.m.
