Norman “Butch” Cole, 87, died Wednesday, October 2, 2019, at his home in Grand Forks, ND.

Butch was born September 28, 1932, in rural Park River, ND, the son of Norman & Anna (Kadlac) Cole. He attended school in Park River, graduating from Walsh County Agriculture School in 1951.

He moved to Grand Forks and on June 20, 1954 he married his high school sweetheart, Marie Hartje. They lived in Grand Forks for 15 years before moving to Bismarck.

Butch worked for Dow Supply Co. in Grand Forks and Acme Welding in Bismarck for 40 years.

While living in Bismarck he was active in the Bismarck Elks Lodge serving as Past Exalted Ruler and Grand Exalted Ruler of Western, ND.

After retirement Butch & Marie moved back to Grand Forks in 1995 and spent 13 winters in Mesa, AZ. After retiring Butch worked several part-time jobs which he really enjoyed.

Butch was married to the love of his life for 65 years. He was so proud of his three daughters, Cindy (Al) Kringlen of Grand Forks, Tammy (Kyle) Els of Anderson, SC and Lisa (Scott) Loecke of Des Moines, IA. His grandchildren were such a blessing to him; Cole (Tara) Kringlen, Caely (Kyle) Nikle, Jessica (Alex) Volfson, Justin (Ashley) Els, Jadyn, Jared, Jayci Loecke; 4 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bill & Dennis; sisters, Willaine (Roland) Ulstad and twin-sister, Norma (Wesley) Larson.

He is preceded in death by 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

**In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the church or a charity of your choice in Butch’s name.

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 7, 2019 at Sharon Lutheran Church in Grand Forks, with visitation one hour prior to the service in the church.
