Wade was the son of Wade and Mary (Mohr) Abbott.
He grew up in Kankakee, Illinois where he graduated from high school in 1942, Wade was drafted into the US Air Force in 1943 and received his commission during 1944. During World War II Wade was a Navigator on a B-29 flying out of Guam. After being honorably discharged in 1948 he was employed at Montgomery War until 1951 when he was recalled by the Air Force and was sent to Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, as a flight instructor. He was discharged and him and LaVerne moved to Chicago, Illinois to be near his elderly mother. Her started his finance career in Chicago and was employed at several companies and retired from Martin Oil Service during 1988. Wade and LaVerne bought an RV and traveled all over the USA, Canada and Mexico for 20 years. In 2009 they made their home at John Know Village in Weslaco, Texas.
He leaves behind his wife, LaVerne and their children, Wade D and Sarah, 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Preceded by his parents and a daughter, Mary Ann.
