Betty was born on Oct. 25, 1927, the daughter of Sherman and Mabel (Ernst) Wentworth in Cresco, Iowa. She moved to the Arnold Area and worked at a Holcombe restaurant.
Betty Wentworth was united in marriage to Ivan Paulsen on June 30, 1947 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Following marriage they raised their three children and Betty was a wonderful mother, grandmother and homemaker.
Betty enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, playing cards, canning, writing stories, and was an avid reader and a wonderful seamstress.
She was a past treasurer for the Town of Lake Holcombe and a member of the Homemakers club.
Betty is survived by: her husband Ivan Paulsen of Holcombe; children Rog (Mary) Paulsen of Holcombe, Debbie (Kenny) Kostick of Holcombe and Nikki (Steve Phillips) Sturino of Kenosha; grandchildren Ryan Paulsen, Renee (Paul) DeLaria, Randy (Dorie) Paulsen, Michelle (Tony) Gietman, Wendy (Chris) Popp and Anthony (Elie Tarjan) Sturino; great grandchildren Sadie and Abby Paulsen, Joey and Nathan DeLaria, Kaleigh and Kyle Gietman, and Dakota, Tara, Kelsea and Zaden Popp; step-grandchildren Randy (Lynn) Kostick and Wendy (Jamie Warner) Kostick; step-great grandchildren Shawn and Samantha; and a step-great great grandson, Kaleb.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; a daughter, Linda, in infancy; and a brother, Kenneth Wentworth, who was killed in action in the Philippines in 1945.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 14 at the Holcombe United Methodist Church with Pastor Steve Scott officiating.
A memorial visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Borton-Leiser Funeral Home — Cornell and also one hour before services Wednesday at the church. Inurnment will take place in the Holcombe Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials will be donated towards books and reading literacy.
Borton-Leiser Funeral Home, Cornell, is handling arrangements for the family.
