Royal Addy Armstrong died peacefully on October 2, 2019 in Salt Lake City surrounded by his family.

Royal Addy Armstrong was born in Salt Lake City to Arthur LeRoy Armstrong and Ruth Irene Addy Armstrong. He was the youngest of four children: Taza N. Armstrong Peirce (d), Arthur Addy Armstrong (d) (Joyce), and Myra North (d) (Mel) (d).

Royal met the love of his life, Carma Farr Armstrong, on a blind date. They were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on March 23, 1956. He was always happiest when she was close by. They were blessed with seven children of their own and shared their home with many more.

Royal attended Olympus Jr High School and served as Jr. Class President at Granite High School, where he graduated in 1952. He later attended the University of Utah.

Royal was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served an LDS mission in the Northern States Mission. Over the course of his life, he served in many church callings. He served as Bishop, in many other bishopric capacities, and fifteen years as High Councilman. He had a passion for the scouting program and loved his service as Scout Leader in several troops. His lifetime scouting achievement includes graduating sixteen Eagle Scouts. He had the opportunity to serve a mission with his sweetheart companion in the California Anaheim Mission (Disneyland) and together served as ordinance workers in the Salt Lake Temple. His love for the Savior and steadfast testimony of the atonement and the gospel of Jesus Christ was the foundation for all aspects of his life.

His career included accounting, financial planning, real estate, and insurance sales. He built a financial consulting firm with over sixty employees. He loved history and reading. He was a storyteller at heart, with a lifelong thirst to capture his ideas and dreams to share with those he loved. He enjoyed spending time in the Wasatch Mountains, bow hunting with family and friends, music, skiing, and BYU football.

Above all, he loved spending time with his family. His grandkids will always think fondly on his Halloween spook alleys, Christmas village crazy train, and nativity.

Royal is survived by his eternal companion, Carma Farr Armstrong; six of their seven children, R. Ann Colby (Doug), Laura J. Best (Kent), Lisa G. Hermansen (Michael), Shay K. Lund (Greg), Royce A. Armstrong (Michelle), and Karen R. Gundersen; adopted son, Michael Tsosie; twenty-one grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren with more on the way. He will be greeted by his parents; siblings; his sweetheart daughter, Jolyn Armstrong; and grandsons, Brant A. Best and Joseph D. Colby.
