He graduated from South High School. He later graduated from Ohio State University both a Masters and a PhD degree.
Donald was a member of Unity Church of Christianity. Throughout his career in education, he was a counselor at South High School, a principle at Pilgrim Elementary and Deshler Elementary, and a teacher at Southwood. In the community he served as the president of Model Cities.
Donald enjoyed music. He was the band leader of the Don Tate organ Combo. He was an avid HAM Radio operator.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Thomasina Tate; spouse, Thelma L. (Early) Tate; sons, Dana Tate, Steven Tate; brothers, Robert Tate and William Henry Tate.
Donald left to cherish his memory is his son, Donald "Don" E. (Sharon) Tate; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends
