Russian Imperial Army Officer. He was a general of the cavalry and adjutant general, and an Earl of the Don Cossacks from 1848 until 1862. His military service ran from 1844 until his death at the age of 59. During this time, he participated in the Napoleonic Wars, War of the Sixth Coalition, and the Russo-Turkish War (1828 to 1829). He was a recipient of the Gold Sword for Bravery.
