The following is Joann Dorsey Clark's obituary in her own words:

My name is Joann P. Dorsey Clark. I was born January 4, 1927 to Bud Golden and Alice Dorsey Webb. At an early age I gave my life to Christ and joined the Beulah Missionary Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama. I was reared by my mother and grandmother who exposed me to God and to music.

I attended Booker T. Washington High School in Montgomery and furthered my education by earning two B. S. degrees: one from Tuskegee Institute, now Tuskegee University in Tailoring and the other in Elementary Education from Alabama State Teachers College, now the Alabama State University. I also received a Master’s degree from Auburn University.

My first teaching assignment was with the Pike County School System. It was during this time that I met and married my late husband of 50 years, the Rev. Dr. A.B. Clark. My next assignment was with the Bullock County School District where I retired in 1985. I enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading, traveling, shopping, and playing music.

I was preceded in death by my grandparents, parents, husband, seven brothers and a son, Harold T. Clark.

I leave to cherish my memory and legacy, a daughter, Anita Clark-Fitzpatrick and a son, Pastor Abraham H. (Theresa) Clark, daughter-in-law, Zaydell Clark; grandchildren: Roderick Marquise, Allison, Japera, Ororo, Ayanna, Alex, Abraham, Dawn, Vincent, Virgil, Angel, Sonia, and Sarah; fifteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; siblings, Doris Bowe, Wetumpka, AL, Ella Ruth (John) Jackson, Columbus, Ohio, Bud Lee (Pearl) Golden, Cincinnati, Ohio, Cecil Golden, Columbus, Ohio, together with many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended family members, Carl (Yvette) Ivy and the Howards. I praise God for each of you.
