Ernest was born to the Union of Charlie and Sophia Woods on November 18, 1936.
He was preceded in death by ten siblings, Thelma Harris, Henrietta Hunt, Hattie Woods, Celia Davis, Charlie Jake Wood, Willie B. Nolen, Alean Rogers and James Woods Sr., Spencer Sylvester, and Lena Deffeboug.
Survivors include his loving and devoted son, Ernest L. Woods Jr. and wife, Patty, of Natchez; one sister, Julia Henry of Natchez; five grandchildren, Marion A. Hunt Jr. and Miranda Hunt of Nashville, Tennessee, Delequa Drake, Jernestia Woods and EJ Woods, all of Natchez; two great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
