Mrs. Mary Lou Johnson Gulley, age 79, of Madison, Indiana entered this life on November 4, 1939 in Worthville, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late Clyde Johnson and Hallie Lathrem Johnson Morris. Mary Lou was raised in Worthville attending Worthville Grade School and Carrollton High School. In the summer of 1956, Mary Lou was united in marriage to Joe Henry Gulley at the courthouse in Madison after he was discharged from the United States Army in 1955. This union of 63 years was blessed with two daughters, JoAnne and Mary. In 2000, Mary Lou retired from the Madison State Hospital after a 27 year career as a psychiatric attendant and qualified medication aide. She enjoyed crocheting and walking in her down time along with attending water aerobics. Mary Lou was of the Baptist faith attending over the years the Grace Baptist Church, Dupont Baptist Church and most recently Madison Assembly of God. Mary Lou died on Sunday, October 6, 2019, at 9:22 p.m. at The Waters of Clifty Falls in Madison, Indiana.
A LOVING FAMILY
Mary Lou will be missed by her loving husband of 63 years, Joe H. Gulley of Madison, Indiana; her daughters, JoAnne Struckman (Leroy) of Milan, Indiana and Mary J. Floyd (Greg Moore) of Madison, Indiana; her grandchildren, Heather M. White of Madison, Indiana, Zackery Nicholson (Nevaeh Waddell) of Hanover, Indiana and Brooke Shadday of Dallas, Texas; her great-grandchild, Willow White; her brother, David Johnson of Carrollton, Kentucky; her brother-in-law, Lawrence Gulley (Sarah) of Scottsburg, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her father, Clyde Johnson; her mother and step-father, Hallie Lathrem Johnson Morris and David Moris; her brother, Clyde "Shorty" Johnson; her sisters-in-law, Augusta Alexander and Bessie Tomlin; her brother-in-law, John W. Gulley.
FUNERAL CEREMONY
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, October 10, 2019 at 1:00 p.m., by Pastor Joel Almaroad at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1415 North Gate Road in Madison, Indiana.
VISITATION
Friends may call Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.
