January 23, 1931 in Bucyrus, MO. She passed away October 3, 2019 at her home in Bucyrus, MO.
Bonnie married Harvey Carter June 4, 1954 in Chicago, IL. They had one son Andrew Jackson Carter.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harvey and son Andrew; brothers, Clifford Albert Jackson, Lorin George Jackson, and Donald Jackson; sisters, Zora Saloma Post, Alice Marie Hooton, Zola Violet McCann, and Shirley Lorene Frangella.
She is survived by nieces and nephews, John, Judy, Keith, Frankie, Karen and Sandra; a host of other family members and friends made throughout the many years.
Bonnie graduated from Houston High School in 1949 and then attended college to receive a Teaching Certificate.
She taught at several different schools, first at Pigeon School in Licking beginning in 1949. She went on to teach at Gladden, Hickory Ridge, Plum Valley, Plato, Bloodland, Ellsworth Schools and the last school was Licking Elementary School making a full circle. She was a gifted, talented and loving teacher. She was known to pick up students and take them to school and then deposit them back to their homes on her journey home.
Anyone who had Bonnie Carter for a teacher was blessed. She was persistent in helping students, and never felt that there was a student she could not help.
After retiring, Bonnie continued to tutor many young people over the years, helping them to succeed and rejoicing over each of them and their progress and success.
Bonnie was active in the Texas County Retired Teachers Association, Texas County Historical and Genealogical Society, the Houston Alumni Association and First Baptist Church.
Bonnie was well known for sending laminated newspaper clippings in the mail, along with words of encouragement in a greeting card to many residents in the area. Opening those cards brought many smiles and comfort to those receiving them. Bonnie supported many civic causes and blessed many people with her generosity.
Bonnie was counted on to do a great job no matter what that job might be. She was respected and loved and will be greatly missed by all who were touched by her life.
