Phyllis L. Campbell, age 92 of Laurel, Nebraska died on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at the Hillcrest Care Center in Laurel.

Funeral Services will be on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at 10:30 am at the United Methodist Church in Laurel, NE with Pastor Isaac Chua officiating. Burial will be in the Laurel Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, at church, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm with a Prayer Service at 6:30 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services on Thursday. The Wintz Funeral Home in Laurel is assisting with arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Brian Campbell, Jody Campbell, Casey Campbell, Rose Quail, Laura Baker, Maranda Kegley, Marissa Kegley, and Mya Kegley.

Phyllis Lucille Campbell was born on July 9, 1927 to James and Vera (Thompson) Urwiler. She grew up and attended school in the Laurel area. After high school, Phyllis attended Wayne State College and received her Teacher’s Certification. She taught elementary school in Hornick, Iowa until her marriage to James Campbell on June 12, 1949. After their marriage, Phyllis helped on the farm and raised her three children.

Phyllis enjoyed gardening, cooking, going to VFW Auxiliary meetings, and playing cards. She was a member of several organizations, including the United Methodist Church, Methodist Women’s Society, VFW Auxiliary, and the Tuesday Club.

Phyllis is survived by her three children, Terry (Pat) Campbell of Belden, NE, Janel (Alan) Quail of Sutton, NE, Marcie (Randy) Kegley of Kearney, NE; grandchildren Brian (Lisa) Campbell, Jody (Melissa) Campbell, Casey (Tiffany) Campbell, Rose Quail, Laura (Clinton) Baker, Maranda Kegley, Marissa Kegley, Mya Kegley; eight great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Mary Ann Urwiler; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband James on October 18, 2005, siblings Harley (LaVerne) Urwiler, LaVera (Ralph) Milliken, and James Urwiler.
