Lee Gail Anderson died peacefully on October 2, 2019 after a year-long fight with cancer. Lee was born in Havana, Cuba on April 29, 1952 to Howard F. Anderson and Dorothy Anderson McCarthy.

After the arrival of Fidel Castro, the family fled Cuba. Her father returned there and was arrested, subjected to extra-judicial torture and executed.

Some time later, her mother remarried and the family moved to Bogota, Colombia. Her mother sued the government of Cuba in US Federal Court on behalf of her husband Howard, and won a multi-million dollar award, which was paid out of Cuba's money in US banks that the US Government had frozen. The court case and results were widely published.

Lee graduated from Miami University of Ohio and taught school in New Jersey, and later in Houston. Upon retirement Lee relocated to the Texas Hill Country.

Lee was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather Joseph P. McCarthy, and nephew Marc Anderson. Her sister Bonnie Anderson, brother Marc Anderson and wife Adela Anderson, and nephew Chris Anderson survive her. She is also survived by her brother Gary Anderson, wife Viki Anderson, nieces Nicole Lucas with wife Tamra Meyer, niece Erika Lucas, and grand niece and nephews Alexandra McGilberry, Lucas Meyer, and Joanna Meyer.

A celebration of her life is to be held at the Lakewood Yacht Club in Seabrook, TX.
