Jan was born to the union of the late Ellis Holmes and Margaret Cowart Holmes and was the third of five children.
Jan attended Central Elementary and graduated from Bogalusa High School in 1972. Following graduation, she worked at the Box Plant for a brief period before becoming disabled.
She leaves to cherish her memories a sister, Alia Johnson and a brother, James Holmes of Bogalusa, LA; three nephews, whom she helped rear: Travis Holmes of Germany, Darrin (Michelle) Holmes and John (Toya) Downey of Bogalusa, LA; two great-nephews, Darrin Holmes and John Downey, III of Bogalusa, LA; a great-niece, La'Kenya Porter of Baton Rouge, LA and aunt Beulah Cowart of Tylertown, MS; special cousins, Willie (JoAnn) Bridges of Bogalusa, LA and Mike Bridges of Baton Rouge, LA and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, cousins, and friends to mourn her passing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ellis and Margarette Holmes; sister, Mary Holmes Hatcher, and brother, Jeffery Holmes.
