Mr. Jerry Otto Hubbard, age 75, passed away Saturday (October 5, 2019). Born September 24, 1944 in Swords Creek, Virginia, he was a son of the late Hallie Earl and Minnie Ellen Miller Hubbard. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a member of East Lebanon Freewill Baptist Church. A very talented auto body repairman, he had been employed by Modern Chevrolet before starting his own repair business.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Lynn Eugene Hubbard, three brothers, Tivis Hubbard, Yulas Hubbard, and Ferrell Hubbard, two sisters, Vertella Clark and Marie Richardson, and one nephew, Gary Hess.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-five years, Allene Hubbard of Swords Creek; one son, Jeffery Jerry Hubbard and wife, Amy of Bristol, Virginia; two daughters, Jacqueline Denise Steele and husband, James and Tenna Michelle Burks and husband, Eddie all of Morganton, North Carolina; two grandsons, Ryan Steele and Colby Burks; two granddaughters, Charisse Diaz and Amanda Frazier; two brothers, Kirby Hubbard and wife, Mary, and Toby Hubbard and wife, Vertie all of Swords Creek; two sisters, Maedean Hess and husband, Monk of Swords Creek and Glenda Hubbard of Tazewell; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 PM Monday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Larry Robinson and Rev. Leo Hess officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Tuesday at the Clyde Hess Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 12:30 PM to go in procession
Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends after 5:00 PM Monday at the Honaker Funeral Home.
