Sara Gist Young, daughter of Kent and Edith Gist, passed away at her home in Orangeville, California September 25, 2019, a victim of bone cancer. Her good friend, companion and caretaker, LaVonne (Sunshine) Delperdang, was by her side.
Sara was born April 13, 1949 in Arlington, Washington. She moved to the Fruitland area with her parents in 1954, graduated from Fruitland High School in 1967, and attended Idaho State University. She moved to Seattle, Washington where she enjoyed working for Alaska Buyers Service, met and married Roger Young, and became a mother to Dane. The family moved to California where Roger was employed by SMUD and Sara became a full-time mother.
Roger passed away in 2013, Dane married in 2013, and moved to North Carolina. Sara became a grandmother to twin girls, born in 2014, and they were her pride and joy.
She is survived by her mother Edith Gist, sister Melissa Nelson (Roudy), bother John Gist, and son and family, Dane and Sarah Young and granddaughters Penelope Jane and Amelie Rose Young.
Services for the family will be at a later date and her ashes will be interred at Parkview Cemetery in New Plymouth, Idaho.
