Race car driver. Barringer was born at Parsons, Kansas and later established Wichita Falls, Texas as his home. He was active as a racer during the 1930s and 1940s, including six appearances in the Indianapolis 500 classic between 1934 and 1946. He and 1946 Indianapolis 500 winner George Robson were killed in in a tragic multi-car pile-up at the Lakewood Speedway in Atlanta, Georgia. He has been inducted into the Cowley County (Kansas) Fairgrounds Marble Wall of Fame For Auto Racing.
