William Gene Barron was born on November 2, 1940, in Montevideo, Minnesota, the son of Harold and Ruth (Summer) Barron. He grew up on the family farm near Maynard and attended school there, graduating from Maynard High School.
After graduating, Gene began his working career which included truck driving for different companies and he worked for Rodgers Hydraulics in Granite Falls as a machinist for over 28 years. His love for the farm never left and he often found himself driving back to the farm to lend a helping hand.
On September 1, 1972, Gene was united in marriage to Hermoine (Tjosaas) Becker in Watertown, South Dakota. That same day he became a second father to three boys, Steven, David and Bradley. The couple made their home in Clara City. In 1973, Gene was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City.
Gene enjoyed working on cars and lawn mowers. He liked to save things because so often they came in handy later on with various projects on the farm. Gene will be remembered for quiet strength and great care he had towards the love of his life, Hermoine.
Gene is survived by his beloved wife, Hermoine Barron of Sauk Rapids; sons, Steven and Brad; grandchildren, Jennifer, Keith, Holly, Cori and Bailey; great grandchildren, Annalise, Bernice and Skylar; brother Merv; nephews, Mark Barron, Jim Barron; as well as other relatives and friends.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Ruth Barron; son, David Becker; nephew, Lenny Barron.
