Jerry D. Graham passed away on October 3, 2019 at the age of 87 after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Auburn, Indiana on December 13, 1931 to Florence and Raymond Graham. He had 4 siblings.

At the age of 17, Jerry followed the path of military service by enlisting in the United States Air Force. He served 26 years reaching the rank of Master Sergeant before retiring in 1975. He truly enjoyed his military service and all his duty assignments which included, Japan, Germany, Thailand and the Philippines as well as many stateside locations. He proudly served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

He is survived by his wife and five children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

After retiring from the military, Jerry and his family moved to Schertz, Texas where he accepted a position as Civil Defense Coordinator for the city of Schertz. After two years he was promoted to Supervisor of the Streets and Parks, Recreation and Leisure Service Department. After 18 years of dedicated city service, he retired in June 1993.

Jerry had many interests including serving his community. He served many volunteer hours as a Fire Captain in the Schertz Volunteer Fire Department and as the Commander of Reserves in the Schertz Police Department. Jerry also served as an assistant Animal Control Officer, Economic Development Coordinator, a city Safety Director and Risk Management Coordinator. He was also a member of the VFW and American Legion. He had a passion for sports and was an accomplished sport official umpiring baseball, football, basketball and softball. He also taught officiating technique clinics. His major sports officiating accomplishments were: plate umpire in the 1957 U.S. Air Force Germany Little League Championship, Chief Umpire for the Eastern North Dakota American Legion Baseball Association and Chief Official Sports Rules Interpreter for the military intramural football league during his tours in Japan and the Philippines. His other interests included bowling, flying his ultralight plane, traveling with his wife, watching old movies and collecting unique watches.
