On December 24, 1960 she was united in marriage to Edward Franklin Hackworth who preceded her in death on December 7, 1998. To this union seven children were born; Laura Tiefenauer and husband, Elton of Annapolis, Douglas Hackworth of Annapolis, Rita Klinsbeck and husband, Andy of Annapolis, David Hackworth and wife, Donna both who preceded her in death, Tracy Wood of Annapolis, Macey Usher and husband, Kenny of Ironton and Cheryl Renee Hackworth who was stillborn. Also surviving are five sisters; Hattie Mesmer of Imperial, Martha Buxton of Imperial, Imogene Prince of O'Fallon, Joyce Johnson of Piedmont, and Mary Lou Beckonbach of Poplar Bluff, ten grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Helen was preceded in death by three sisters; Anna Mae Brown, Thelma Buffington, and Myrtle Wyatt and five brothers; Clarence Britt, Joey Britt, Clyde Mathis, Gary Mathis, and Rick Mathis.
Helen enjoyed reading and needlepointing. She especially liked doing needlepoint work with plastic canvas. She worked as a cook at Spencer's restaurant in Annapolis.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 p.m. at the Annapolis Church of the Nazarene. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. with interment following the service in Annapolis Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Cavenar, Douglas Hackworth, Danny Pruett, Trenton Hackworth, Pete Klinsbeck, and Clayton Hackworth. Memorials may be made to assist with funeral expenses.
