Benjamin F. McElroy filed for a pension from Idaho February 1891. Benjamin F. McElroy was admitted to the Veterans Home if California, Yountville, Napa County, California, April 20, 1910 and was discharged at his own request September 17, 1912. Benjamin F. McElroy, age 61 years and single, was admitted to the Pacific Branch, U.S. National Homes for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers, at Sawtelle, Los Angeles County, California, October 11, 1912 and was discharged at his own request April 8, 1913. A brother at Ada, Hardin County, Ohio, was shown as his nearest relative. His Last Prospect. Benjamin McElroy, a recent arrival in this section, passed away yesterday at the County hospital after a brief illness. He was a miner by occupation and had worked on the desert. A sister, Mrs. Margaret A. Elberson, who resides at Ada, Ohio, his only known relative, has been advised of his death.
