Kenneth Gene Leonard, 82, of Louisville, passed away at 8:40 am on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at his home in Louisville.

Gene was born on September 7, 1937 in Clay County, the son of the late Opal and Ruth (Newby) Leonard. He married Rosalie Hawn on April 27, 1956 in Clay County and she survives.

Mr. Leonard spent most of his working life as an area farmer. Gene served for several years on the Louisville Village Board. He was a member of Red Brush Christian Church in Louisville. Gene enjoyed hunting, showing horses, farming and had a passion for training bird dogs.

In addition to his wife of 63 years, Rosalie, he is survived by a son; Troy (Amy) Leonard of Flora, two daughters; Rhonda (Bruce) Tolliver of Louisville and Kendra (Roger) Birch of Louisville, eight grandchildren; Toby (Melanie), Jada (Justin), Aszure, Whitney, Jon, Chauncey, Tyra and Andrew, twelve great grandchildren and by several nieces, nephews and good friends.

Besides his parents, Gene was preceded in death by a sister, Jackie Kerby.

Funeral services honoring the life of Gene will be conducted at 10:00 am on Monday, October 7, 2019 at the Triplett & Neal Funeral Home in Louisville. Bro. Ron Payne will officiate. Interment will follow at Orchard Hill Cemetery in Louisville. Visitation will be held from 5 until 8:00 pm on Sunday at the funeral home.
