Daphne is my Mum.

She was a massive Elvis Presley Fan.

Born at home to James and Vera Kirby in Morland Road Croydon. Their first daughter. Her Dad James didn't see her until she was 3 years old, as he was away fighting in WW2. Her Siblings: David (dec), Anthony (Tony), Raymond ~ Ray (dec), Aubrey, Christine and Rita.

Had a variety of jobs in Croydon. Woolworth's as a stock room assistant, Tool Factory - making tools, Lyons Tea House, Bottle Stop factory - with her Mum Vera and Usherette at the Odeon Cinema.

Married Martin in Saint Mary's Church Croydon on 21 January 1961 when she was 18 years old. Mother to 5 children. Immigrated to Palmyra, Western Australia in 1977 - was stuck in Singapore for a week, due to an airport strike in Western Australia. Worked as a retail assistant in Farrington's Deli, Marmion Street Palmyra and as a cleaner in Stella Maris Seafarers Club in Fremantle.

Divorced Martin in 1991.

Daphne loved a joke and wouldn't mind being the butt end of a joke. She had a contagious laugh and known for her one line wonders. Daphne also loved knitting, baking and playing cards. She is now reunited with her parents and countless pets. Jess is one of them.

Her wishes were to be brought home to Croydon UK. Which was organised for August 2020 - However COVID put a halt to that, and now hoping to bring her home August 2024.

A rose memorial and plaque have been purchased which is located behind her Mother Vera's Rose at Croydon Cemetery. Her ashes will be scattered at her Dad's site.
