Lawrence F. Ruhnke, 68, of Miller, died Wednesday, June 25, 1986, at Hand County Memorial Hospital, Miller. Lawrence F. Ruhnke was born March 25, 1918, in Ray, ND to Mr. and Mrs. Emil (Anna Haack) Ruhnke. He was raised by relatives in Kossuth County, IA. He married Zelda Stoddard of Livermore, IA, February 1, 1942, in St. Joe, IA. He entered the Army and served in the Asian theater during World War II. After the war he worked for Silbaugh Manufacturing, Humboldt, IA. In 1960 he moved to Miller where he was a truck driver and farm laborer. From 1967 he started Miller distributing Company and retired in 1985. Survivors include his wife of Miller; four sons, David of Pierre, Donald, Dale and Wayne, all of Miller; a daughter, Mrs. Orlen(Patricia) Albertson, Sioux Falls; three sisters, Mrs. Erwin (Louise) Krause of Fenton, IA, Mrs. Martha Andersen of Jewell, IA and Mrs., Hertha Hale, Winfield, KS; seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 28 at St. Ann's Catholic Church with Father Donald Molumby officiating. Burial was in St. Ann's Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jim Testerman, Joe Kolda, Joel Christianson, DeWayne Herman Alfred Schoenfelder and Bayard Puffer.
