SSG David Marin Torres was born on 9 February 1982, in Weslaco, TX. After graduating from Weslaco High School in May of 2000, He enlisted in the United States Army as an Infantryman. He completed Basic Combat Training (BCT) and Advance Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Benning, GA in 2001.

His first assignment was A Co. 1-14 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks; over his 18-year career he deployed in support of Iraqi Freedom Cloud three times. His other assignments include: Ft Benning, GA; Camp Red Cloud, Korea, and Ft Shafter, Hawaii, where he served in various duty positions including: Saw Gunner, Rifleman, Grenadier, 240B Machine Gunner, Team Leader, Squad Leader, Section Leader, Combative Instructor, and Operations Sergeant.

During his 18 years serving in the Army, SSG David Torres received several awards and decorations, to include the “Meritorious Service Medal.” SSG David Marin Torres served 42 months in combat.

SSG David Torres is survived by his wife – Tracie Torres, daughters – Gabriela Torres & Isabella Torres, & son- Vince Torres, step-son Lawrence Acasio & step-daughter Tiare Santiago, & granddaughter – Haley Acasio, mother - Olga Marin, sister – Sandy M. Torres, niece – Laila Villarreal & nephew – Davian Villarreal, & brother-in-law Edwardo Villarreal.
