Dr. Mark Joseph Pope, 49, passed away October 1, 2019. Raised in Royal, Arkansas, Mark appreciated nature and enjoyed the peace of the woods. Hunting deer, flushing dove, fishing for bass, tending his cattle, or working on his tractor, Mark loved being outside.
From childhood Mark was a voracious reader and always interested in sharing stories. After receiving his diploma from Lake Hamilton High School, Mark went on to UALR for his undergraduate studies. He attended medical school at UAMS graduating with honors. He was a family medicine physician since 2005 opening his own practice, Pope Family Medical Clinic, in 2012.
Mark was greeted in Heaven by his father, Johnnie Wayne Pope; and his grandparents Lloyd “Skeet” Robertson, and Cecil and Virginia Pope.
Mark loved his family and will be missed by his wife of 23 years, Dr. Tammy Kay Ebsen Pope; his mother, Phyllis Kay Robertson Keeney (Ted); sister Dr. Angela Virginia Pope Frost (Jeremy); brothers, Christopher and Matthew Pope (Anna); nanny, Mary Sue Robertson; aunt, Janet (Ed); uncle, Gary Pope (Beth); nieces Katherine and Jenna Frost; nephew, Tucker Pope; his church family at Crystal Springs Church of Christ; and many well-loved friends.
Honorary pallbearer will be Dr. Yuekui Li, Ty Ebsen, Kyle Ebsen, Ryan Ebsen, Bryce Ebsen.
