ST. PAUL—David Ellis Douthit, Jr., 36, of St. Paul, passed away Monday, September 30, 2019, at St. Paul.

Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Friday, October 4, 2019, at Fullerton Community Church in Fullerton with Reverend Vern Olson officiating. Interment will follow at Fullerton Cemetery in Fullerton with military honors by Fullerton American Legion Post #151 and U.S. Army Honor Guard. Palmer-Santin Funeral Home is serving the family.

David was born December 31, 1982 to Dave and Sharlene (Crouse) Douthit in Ord, NE. He grew up in Newman Grove and graduated from Newman Grove High School in 2001. During high school, he was active in all sports including, football, wrestling, and track. After 9/11, he enlisted in the U.S. Army as a Combat Engineer in November 2001 and served two combat tours in Iraq. He was awarded the Army Commendation with Valor Device Medal for combat actions, Army Commendation Medal (2nd Award), and Army Achievement Medal. In May 2007, he was honorably discharged. He married Amber Jasa and during this union, two children were born: Conner and Kaia.

He loved spending time with his family, especially his children and taking them to all their activities. He was always planning fun things to do with his children. To David, his in-depth love for his family and friends ran very deep.

He is survived by his children, Conner and Kaia of St. Paul; mother and step-father, Sharlene (Robert) Friedrich of Fullerton; father, Dave Douthit of Arizona; siblings, Lonny (Luciana) Douthit of Lacey, WA, Zane Douthit of St. Edward, Nicole (Dustin) Hixson of Fullerton; nieces and nephews, Alex, Jude, and Mary Jo Douthit, and Shayla Douthit, Eleanor, and Addisyn Hixson; grandma, Lois Kjeldgaard; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Eddie (Junior) and Bonnie Crouse, Junior Ellis “Sonny” Douthit, and Otto S. and Doris Friedrich.
