Robert served in the United States Army during World War II. He married Maxine Nicholson on October 1, 1941 in Scottsburg, Indiana. Robert was the longest living member of the Stinesville Church of the Nazarene and was also a member of the Moses Group. He was the patriarch of his family and loved spending time with them, especially with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 78 years, Maxine Thacker; daughter, Donna Richards (Robert); three grandchildren Gregg Britton (Vickie), Angie Holland (Kelly) and Shannon Bland (Max); four great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dick Witham and six sisters Mamie Wall, Kate Thacker, Margaret Thacker, Mary Thacker, Elma Joyce "Dude" Thacker and Martha Thacker.
