Funeral services for Mr. Lawrence Gene Hawkins, Sr., 81, who entered into rest on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, will be held at 4 o'clock on Thursday, October 3, 2019, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dan Sullivan, The Rev. Jeff Williams, and The Rev. John Griggs will officiate with burial to follow at a later date. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the service.

Mr. Hawkins was born in Hartsville, SC, a son of the late Lawrence Brown Hawkins and Kate Weatherford Hawkins. Gene was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. He served in the National Guard and retired from Sonoco Products Company. After retirement, he went to work on the farm. His hobbies included doing whatever his wife told him to do and supporting the Clemson Tigers and Hartsville Red Foxes. He enjoyed sitting outside in his rocking chair with the family dogs. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Ann Wilkes Hawkins of Hartsville, SC; son, Lawrence Gene (Tonya) Hawkins, Jr. of Hartsville, SC; daughter, Missy Hawkins of Hartsville, SC; sister, Joy (Gene) Davis; grandchildren, Courtney (Shane) Jones, Jessie Hawkins, Tate Hawkins; great-grandchildren, Chloe Jones, Grace Jones, and Mary Jones.
