Coach Jimmy Ray Matthews, age 85 of Dallas, GA passed away on Monday evening, September 30, 2019.

He was a man who loved his family, he was a wonderful role model and encouraged honesty, fairness and integrity in both family and friends. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Dallas and a teacher and coach for many years in the Paulding County School System, first at Dallas High School, Paulding County High School and retired from East Paulding High School. He was an avid golfer and considered playing golf his "therapy", and at 80 years old he hit 2 hole in ones at Mirror Lake Country Club.

Coach Matthews was preceded in death by his wife; Sue Matthews; parents; Ray H. and Rozzie Lee Redding Matthews; brothers, Bobby and Larry Matthews.

Survivors include his daughters; Pam Matthews of Dallas, GA, Debora (Mark) Shipp of Dallas, GA, Kim (Mark) Cromer of Dahlongea, GA; sisters, Kathy Jane Matthews of Villa Rica, GA, Sarah Morton of Villa Rica, GA; extended generations.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 4, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Dallas Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, October 4,2019 from 1:00 pm until the funeral hour.
