Lloyd worked as a pipe fitter for 30 years at Continental Steel, then 5 years at Chrysler Casting Plant. He enjoyed wood working in his workshop. Lloyd had been a Cub Scout Leader, Vice President at the Credit Union, and he and Beverly were Chaplin volunteers at St. Vincent-Kokomo hospital for several years. He was also very active in Prison Ministry.
Lloyd loved the Lord and was active in the church as his health would allow. He attended First Church of God (South Creek) in Kokomo, where he was on the Board of Trustees, and he and Beverly were both youth leaders and Sunday school teachers. They went on a 10 day mission trip to Mexico to build a church. Lloyd attended First Assembly of God where he was a Sunday school teacher. The then attended Crossroads Community Church where he was a small group leader and on the visitation group. The past few years, Lloyd was unable to be a part of First Church of the Nazarene due to his health.
In addition to his wife, Beverly, Lloyd is survived by his children, Lloyd Joseph “Joe” (Barbie) Jenkins Jr., Beverly (Mark) Bryan, and David (Teresa) Jenkins; grandchildren, Christopher (Miranda) Bentley, Lloyd Keith (April) Bentley, Adam (Hannah) Bentley, Caleb (LaChricia) Bryan, Jonathan (Alex) Jenkins, Quinten (Shandra) Jenkins, Rachel Jenkins, Atticus Jenkins, Josie (Mike) Brown, and James Jenkins, along with 11 great-grandchildren; and brother, Jerry (Pearl) Jenkins.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Charles Jenkins, and Sherry Bowers; and grandson, Forrest Jenkins.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Friday, October 4, 2019, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Pastor Dave Osborne officiating. Burial will follow in Russiaville Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4-7 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
