Viola Mae Cooper, 95, of Burlington, died at 3:19 AM Monday, July 23, 2018, at the Oakview Nursing Home and Rehabilitation in Burlington.Born March 12, 1923, in Quincy, IL, she was the daughter of Rufus Ferman and Helen Mae Darnell. On May 6, 1943, she married Ralph Russell Cooper in Quincy IL. He died November 14, 2001.Viola worked as a nurse aid for 15 years at Winfield Nursing Home and five years at the Mt.Pleasant Hospital. Most of all, her favorite job was being a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.She enjoyed macrame', cooking, canning, fishing, camping, playing guitar, singing, dancing, and going to the races. She also enjoyed helping on the family farm by tending to the baby animals. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Rufus Jr., Gerald, Harold, Ray, and Vernon (Ruby) Darnell, two sisters, Betty Brown, and Eva Overlander, one son Ralph Russell Cooper Jr., one granddaughter Judith Moore, twin grandchildren, Robert and Rebecca Cooper, one great grandson, Bret Moore and one grandson-in-law, Brandon Maggart.
