The burial register of All Hallows Staining records that he was buried on October 31, 1656 at the 'New Churchyard', which later became known as the Bedlam or Bethlem Burial Ground.Memorial stone and plaque to Rev. Stephen Bachiler and the first settlers of Hampton in 1638

Matriculated at St John’s College at Oxford on 17 Nov 1581 (B.A. 1586) and became the vicar at Wherwell, Hampshire, England 1587.

Stephen Bachiler of Newton Stacy, County Hampshire, England; Mrs. Helen Bachiler; John Sanborn, William Sanborn, Stephen Sanborn. ref: Planters of the Commonwealth; *John Winthrop, Journal I, pp. 80,81]; No mention of Deborah and her three sons. Perhaps they were listed separately or came on another ship.

In 1654 he sailed back to old England where he was cared for by relatives. He died near London and was buried “in the new churchyard” at All Hallows, Staining on October 31st 1656.
