Verna Katherine Ray, 93, of Lancaster, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2019 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born on Friday, November 13, 1925 in Stanford, she was a daughter of the late Mike & Viola Kincaid Burnside. Verna was a former employee for Whittaker Bank, where she worked as a bank teller. Verna was a member of Lancaster Methodist Church, active in the Methodist Women’s Group, AARP & the Democratic Party. She was also an avid UK Wildcats & Cincinnati Reds Fan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ray, brothers; Duward, Allen & Harry Burnside, sisters; Dorthann Gabbard & Frances Glass.
Her survivors include her son, Lanny (Janet) Ray, of Lancaster, grandchildren; Justin (Hagan) Ray, Jesse (Meagan) Ray & one great-grandchild, Townes Brynne Ray.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, October 03, 2019 at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home, with Rev. Jerry Browning & Pastor Joshua Wiggs officiating, and burial following at Lancaster Cemetery. Pallbearers include Justin Ray, Jesse Ray, Ray Hammonds, Bobby Preston, Danny Irvin & Randy Williams. Visitation will be held from 5:00-9:00 PM Wednesday, October 02, 2019 at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home
