Nell Shelton Jones, age 100, went to her heavenly reward Monday at Shepherd’s Cove Hospice.
Nell, a life long resident of Arab was born to John and Maude Fant Shelton. In 1940 she married the late Marshall Jones, an Army Air Corps veteran, who passed in 1981. She was an Auburn University class of 1938 graduate earning a Bachelor’s degree in education. During WWII she was employed by the Defense Department at Redstone Arsenal. Throughout her teaching career she was employed at various schools, including Arab High School. She retired from Marshall Technical School in 1975. Mrs. Jones was a member of Rock Primitive Baptist Church. Her sister, Hazel Boys (Ewell) also preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 3, 2019 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in the Arab Memorial Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing. Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 3, 2019 Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.
