On Saturday, May 4, 2019, the Heavenly Father sent His angelic host for Miss Helen Elaine Clayton and she entered into her eternal rest at the Extended Care Facility of Washington County in Sandersville, Georgia. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 1 p.m. at St Paul CME Church in Hancock County with interment in the Church Cemetery. Elder Robert Spencer will officiate.

Miss Helen Elaine Clayton was born on July 3, 1952, to the parentage of the late Mrs. Lillian Spencer Nelson and Mr. Gordon Dixon, Sr. Miss Helen Elaine Clayton attended the public schools of Washington County and was a member of the Washington County High School Graduating Class of 1971. Helen furthered her education at Mary Holmes College in West Point, Mississippi. She was the Dietician at Kids Academy Learning Center, which was one of her many passions. She was also a professional seamstress, which gave her great joy, in producing garments for others as well as for herself. One of her proudest moments was making her daughter’s wedding gown. She finished her last project, which was making a beautiful quilt for her sister Sharon.

Miss Clayton confessed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and joined St. Paul Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, where she sang in the choir for many years. Later on, following the Holy Spirit’s guidance, she joined St. John Church of God in Christ in Tennille, Georgia, where she was a faithful Sunday School Instructor and served on the Hospitality and Decorating Ministries.

Miss Clayton had an amazing love for her family especially her grandchildren. Miss Clayton prayed for her family continually asking God to save her family. She could be heard at night praying calling each sibling, child, grandchild, niece, nephews, and others by name. She loved taking care of others and cooking as she would prepare meals through the week for her family.

She also had an amazing love for church hats and felt her church attire was incomplete if she did not have on a hat. But most of all, Miss Clayton had an amazing love for God the Father and her Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ. While in the various health facilities, she was often asked, “if she still loved God and if she still loved Jesus”, and she would answer with a resounding “YES I DO”. She refused to let anything or any situation separate her from the love of God and her faith in Jesus the Christ.

Miss Helen Elaine Clayton was preceded in death by two brothers: Mr. Joe Linton Clayton and Mr. Alvin Spencer.

She leaves to cherish her precious and beautiful memories two daughters: Mrs. Jorquikka (Jackie) Taylor and Miss Adja Smith; Siblings: Mrs. Elois Vernell (J.
