Linda Kay Adkins, age 73 of Farragut, IA; formerly Waterloo, IA passed away at her home on Friday; September 27, 2019.

She was born on September 15, 1946 in Hamburg, IA; the daughter of Ora Clayton and Vera Jean (Catlett) Adkins. She graduated from the Sidney High School with the Class of 1964.

After high school, Linda attended business school in Omaha, NE and later Westmar College in Le Mars, IA. She continued her studies at the University of Northern Iowa (U.N.I.) and received her Bachelors Degree. Later in 1999, she received her Masters Degree from U.N.I.

She was on the faculty of the English Department at the University of Northern Iowa and taught reading and writing there. She was lovingly known as “Dr. Grammar” and was the expert on any grammar questions! She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, the Farragut Golden Key Club, the Riverton Silver and Gold Club as well as the Farragut United Methodist Church.

Those left to cherish her memory include her siblings: Shirley Miller and husband Max of Farragut, IA, Donna Sorensen of Harlan, IA and Robert Adkins of St. Ann, MO; 3 nieces: Marcia Chadly (Eva Morrell) of Westminster, CO, Tammy Jelen (Jon) of Mesa, AZ, and Annette Louscher (Kris) of Spirit Lake, IA; nephew Clayton Sorensen of Harlan, IA; 9 great nieces and nephews, other family and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother in law Wade Sorensen.
