Larry E. Childress, 83, of Humboldt, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at the Humboldt Care Center South.

He was born May 20, 1936 in Lyon County, Iowa, the son of J.C. and Mildred (Cohrt) Childress. Larry enlisted in the United States Army. On April 18, 1959 he was united in marriage to Eleanor Roemen in Rock Rapids. The couple made their home in Humboldt and Larry worked in sales in the seed corn industry. He enjoyed golf, vegetable gardening and volunteered hours with the local food pantry and Meals on Wheels.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor; and children, Pamela (Tom), Dale, Lynn (Matt), Patrick (Tricia), Julie (Jeff), Paul (Dyan), nineteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, his sister, Lois (Ladean); his brother, Steven; brothers and sisters-in-law Elaine, Marvin and Mary, Roger and Bernadine, Bill and Roger and Carol; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, George; sister-in-law, Evelyn VerMulm; and brother-in-law, Ronald Roemen.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 2, 2019 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Humboldt. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery.
