She graduated, in 1946, from Wirt County High School in Elizabeth, WV. She married James (Jim) William Edwards on December 8, 1948.
Emma loved Christ and her family and spent her life devoted to them. Jim and Emma were members of Shilo Baptist Church for many years and loved vacationing with friends and family at Smoke Hole.
Emma is survived by her two daughters, Barbara Joyce Propst (John) and Mary Ann Smith (Benny); granddaughters, Wendy Dawn Higgins, Jennifer May Morrison (Rob), Heather Ann Sands (Andy); great-grandchildren, Stacie Lynn Mitchell, Brittany Nicole Outman, Talbott Earl Sands, Sarah Michelle Sands and Ashton Taylor Allen who was like a great-granddaughter; great-great-grandchildren, Hunter Wallace, Roslynn Kent, Evelyn Outman and Archer Outman; two brothers, Dale and Wayne Veon; three sisters, Anna Marshall, Hilda Bailey, and Bonnie Buckley and one aunt, Wanda Goodnight.
In addition to her parents, Emma was preceded in death by her husband, James Edwards, and 5 brothers and 6 sisters.
Visitation will be held at Leavitt Funeral Home, 403 7th St., Parkersburg, WV, on Wednesday Oct. 2, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, and one hour prior to service on Thursday. Funeral services will be held at Leavitt Funeral Home on Thursday Oct. 3, 2019, at 11:00 am with Pastor David Veon officiating. A graveside service will be held at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Mineral Wells, WV, following the service.
