Dr. Diana Deane Carr, 69, of Sebring died on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 from complications due to a stroke. Diana was born on October 9, 1949 in Washington, D.C. to the Rev. Dabney J. Carr III and Leontine Jones Carr.

A trailblazer and creative spirit, Diana was one of the first female Orthopedic Surgeons in the U.S. and a licensed pilot. She read two to three books per week, was an accomplished gourmet cook and seamstress, had a photographic memory and was a caring friend and community supporter.

Diana treated patients at The Hand & Shoulder Specialist. She was certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. Her long list of achievements included being the area’s only Orthopedic Surgeon certified as a hand specialist. She was consistently named as a ‘Top Doctor’. She was a proud member of the Ruth Jackson Orthopedic Society, promoting the professional growth and leadership of female Orthopedic Surgeons.

She is survived by siblings, Linda Carr-Kraft and first husband, George Trepal (incarcerated at Union Correctional Institution in Raiford, Florida, for the *murder and attempted murder of his neighbor(s), Judy A Jean Alexander Carr [no relation] and her two children), second husband Sam, of Powhatan, Virginia; Cary Carr Cox of Raleigh, N.C.; Martha Carr of Austin, Texas and Dabney J. Carr IV and his wife Laura of Richmond, Virginia; as well as a number of cousins, nephews and a niece who will miss her dearly.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at St. Agnes Episcopal Church in Sebring. Funeral and burial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond.
