Longtime Sonora resident Michelle Deanne (Paso) Long died after a long illness April 25 at a Hughson care home. She was 39.
She was born in Germany and lived in Sonora all her life. She enjoyed drawing, cross-stitching and spending time outdoors with her family. She worked at the Tuolumne County Office of Special Education for almost 10 years.
She is survived by her son, Derek Long of Sonora; her former husband, Michael Long of Sonora; her best friends, Joann Darone of Sonora and Shelley Bentley of Fresno; her mother and stepfather, Jacqueline Merrihew and Bob Fairbanks of Washington; her father, Albert Paso of Roseville; her half-sister, Margaret, of Roseville; her aunt, Maryann, of Modesto; brothers and sisters-in-laws Michael and Lorraine Paso of Antioch, Contra Costa County, and Scott and Wanda Merrihew of Utah; nieces Ashley Merrihew of Utah, Shelby Merrihew of Sonora, and Kylie Paso of Antioch; nephews Kain Merrihew of Utah, Colten Merrihew of Sonora, Colin Paso of Antioch, and Robbie, Cody and Mac Smittle of Sonora; great-nephews, Jonathan and Michael Massey; stepbrother and sister-in-law Eric and Jenny Merrihew of Sonora; extended family, Betty Long, Rhonda and Rob Smittle, Shannon and Jeffrey Rimlinger, Kristina and Bill Massey, Paula, David and Jon Marley; and Bob and Jean Pedro.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. May 20 at Morgan Chapel, 16730 Wards Ferry Road, Sonora. Take Highway 108 to Tuolumne Road North to Wards Ferry Road for 4 1/2 miles.
Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel of Modesto handled arrangements. "
