In 2004, he moved to Dallas. He retired from United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Local 68 in 2009, where he also served as a union steward. He continued working at Dallas Care & Rehab as a transportation coordinator, where he especially enjoyed helping and caring for others. He lived for fishing and hunting with his family and friends and loved playing cribbage every day. He had such a wonderful outlook on life. His positive attitude and smile were contagious and will carry on through those that were close to him.
He is survived by his mother, Valborg Shipley; brothers Michael (Kathy) Shipley and Barry (Rose) Shipley; Gwenny, the mother of his daughter, Kristina (Dennys) Shipley; Teresa, the mother of his daughter, Jessica Shipley-Seeker, and son, Steven Shipley; former spouse Sharon Carlson; stepdaughter Angie (Josh) Haynes; stepson Jeremy Boettcher (Kristin Kuemper); and grandchildren Madison, Grace and Cad; as well as many special nieces, nephews, family and close friends.
Brian was preceded in death by his loving father: Louis Shipley and precious grandsons: Owen & Riley.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, at New Scandinavia Lutheran Church in the Town of Maple Grove, rural Dallas, with Pastor Heather Kistner officiating and interment following in the Dallas Cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Arrangements are with Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Homes, Dallas and Cameron.
