Michael Monroe Ames, 53, of Dallas Texas died Tuesday, June 3, 2014 after a short illness. He was born March 25, 1961 in Albuquerque, NM to Neal (deceased) and Barbara Ames. He is survived by his mother, three brothers, David, Benjamin and Matthew, two children, Ansel Ames and Monique, mother of his two grandchildren Angelique and Isaac and her husband Edward Romero of Dallas, TX. After graduating from Sandia High School in Albuquerque in 1979, Michael attended NMSU in Las Cruces, NM. He spent most of his career as a Water Purification Technician for the Intel Corp. in Rio Rancho, NM and in Chandler, AZ. He recently moved from Las Cruces to Dallas to be near his beloved children and grandchildren. Michael will be remembered for his sense of humor and his generous nature. He was a compassionate man who was always protective of the underdog and willing to express his affection. He was a creative man who loved drawing and art in general. He was an integral part of the lives of his children and grandchildren. He was always there for them and he will be sorely missed. Michael's mother Barbara is currently residing at The Haciendas at Grace Village, a wonderful home for people with advanced Alzheimer's disease in Las Cruces. Due to her diminished capacity, the family is respectfully requesting that mourners not convey information of Michael's death to her. Memorial services are scheduled for 11:00 am Friday June 13, 2014 at Getz Funeral Home 1410 E. Bowman Ave 88001. Michael will be returned to Las Cruces to rest at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens next to his father, Neal (Bud). Arrangements are with Getz Funeral Home 1410 E. Bowman Ave Las Cruces NM, 88001.
