ORVILLE HARRIS, 92, of Dryden, died Friday, September 20, 2019 at Stonegate Health Campus of Lapeer.

Orville Jay Harris was born March 2, 1927, in Kingston. He is the son of the late Oscar and the late Thera Julie Harris. Orville grew up in the Dryden area. He is a graduate of Dryden High School, Class of 1944.

He proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II from 1945-1946. Orville was employed as a screw machine operator by General Motors – Pontiac Motors in Pontiac, MI for 40 years before retiring in the early 1990’s.

Orville was a charter member and trustee of the Imlay City Eagles, and a member of Vassar Eagles and the Mayville Eagles. He was also a member of Dryden Veterans Club, 40 and 8 Veterans of Lapeer, Berville VFW, American Legion, and the Lapeer County Veteran’s Esteem Team.

He enjoyed bingo, Eagle’s conventions, dancing, fund raising for Eagle and Veteran charities and was the chairman for the bingo’s and fish fry’s. Orville did whatever he could to raise funds for the community.

He is survived by his nephew, David Harris of Livonia; niece, Mary Jane Leforge of Livonia; several great-nieces and nephews; and his close friend, Betty Rozek.

The funeral services were held Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City. Michelle Lamb officiated. Interment followed at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Dryden.
