Funeral Services were held at 4:00 pm Monday, September 30, 2019 at the First Christian Church officiated by Snuffy Pritchett and Barry Walker. Burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery – under the care of Horizon Funeral Home.
Ginger LeCompte Marquez was born September 24, 1954 in Dalhart, Texas to Walter and Cleva "Bo"
(Lillard) LeCompte. Ginger and her family lived on the Brown and Tolvry Ranch for several years before moving into Dalhart where she attended school through graduation in 1973.
Ginger went to work for Coon Memorial nursing home and hospital until she decided to continue her education at Frank Phillips College where she received her LVN. She went back to work at Coon Memorial and then moved onto BSA Hospital and Infinity Home Health in Amarillo, TX. She later returned to Dalhart with the home health company as the supervisor. Ginger spent some more time working with Coon Memorial and then moved into the position as the Infectious Disease Nurse for Texas Tech University Health Science Center at the Dalhart Unit until she received her cancer diagnosis and eventually retired. It is clear Ginger had a huge heart and desire to serve those around her. Her memory will be treasured by the many lives she has touched over the years. The Marquez family would like to send a special thank you to all of Ginger’s hospice nurses for all of their wonderful care.
Ginger is survived by her loving husband Anthony Marquez of Dalhart, TX, her three sons: James Wood and wife Crystal of Green, Iowa, John Wood and wife Courtnie of San Angelo, TX, Troy Brown of Dalhart, TX and daughter Nicole Mata and husband Chris of San Angelo, TX. Nine grandchildren: Chantz, Sandra, Haley, Ashley, Jaden, Darien, David, Jordan and Kameron. Four great grandchildren, one sister Phyllis Harwood and husband Melvin of Ruston, LA and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ginger is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Cleva "Bo" LeCompte, two brothers, Nick LeCompte and Rondy and four sisters, Charles, Clauda, Mozelle and Billy.
